Spring on the island of Krk – part II.

Besides sports and outdoor activities happening at Krk in the Spring, it also offers different fun activities and gastronomical indulgences.

Šurlice and asparagus days

During April you can taste some local specialities during the “Šurlice and asparagus days”, an event held in most of the restaurants at the island of Krk. The list of restaurants and taverns participating in this event is here: Dani šurlica i šparoga

“Šurlice* and asparagus days” unites an autochthonous pasta from Krk called šurlice with the spring delicacy, wild asparagus, and they represent the first out of three phases in the food event called Krk Food Fest.

The next phase is in May, and it offers food specialities in the form of lamb from the island of Krk and its sheep milk cheese.

Week of cheese and rock

From May 7th – May 13th, 2018, in Malinska is held a “Week of cheese and rock”, that includes “Days of cheese” with its food offer – chesses, and “Sensa – a traditional sheppards’ event in a race for cheese”, held in Malinska on the Feast of the Ascension (May 10th, 2018), together with an interesting music event Rock-am-Meer.

Crna ovca (Black sheep)

On the third weekend in May, from May 18th – May 20th, 2018, in Baška is held the popular “Crna ovca” (Black sheep) festival of lamb, individualism, creativity, island heritage, popular culture and sports – according to the organizers who would not reveal names of the performers (although they announce the biggest names of the urban music).
